CHAMALEON
(Cha)


 


Generalities: it is a small constellation of the deep southern sky, formed by weak stars. It transits at midnight in  February.

Origins and mythology: this constellation belongs to the so- called “modern” constellations and it is not associated with any mythological circumstances. It was introduced by Bayer in the seventeenth century.

Stars: the Chamaleon doesn't include any stars brigther than magnitude 4. The brightest (alpha)  is of magnitude 4.07.

Other objects: in this constellation objects of great interest are not included.
