CORONA  AUSTRALIS
The Southern Crown
(CrA)



Generalities: it is a constellation of the southern sky, from the characteristic form, but deprived of  bright stars. It transits at midnight in  July.

Origins and mythology: the Southern Crown belongs to the original Ptolemaic constellations. It is not tied to any mythological circumstances. Its name derives from the form in which its stars are situated.

Stars: the Southern Crown doesn't show any stars under  magnitude 4. The main star (alpha)  is of magnitude 4.11, it is of white color and is about 45 light-years far.

Other objects: the constellation contains some nebulas of a certain interest.
