The Little Lion
(LMi)

 

Generalities: it is a small and dark constellation that is set near the Lion. It doesn't contain any bright stars. Its transit at midnight takes place between February and March.

Origins and mythology: it is a constellation that was introduced by Hevelius in 1660, to fill a band of sky deprived of bright stars.

Stars: in the Little Lion only  a star appears  under  magnitude 4. This star is called Praecipua, it is of orange color and is 75 light-years far..

Other objects: as in the Lion, also in the Little Lion a lot of galaxies appear, many of which of weak brightness.
