PYXIS
The Ship's Compass

Generalities: it is a small southern constellation, poor in bright stars . Its transit at midnight takes place at the beginning of February.

Origins and mythology: this constellation is a small part of what  derives from the dismembering of the great constellation Ship Argon. The Ship Argon was the one used by the Argonauts driven by Jason to go to subtract the precious gold fleece of the sacred ram.

Stars: it is a constellation containing only two stars under  magnitude 4. The brightest star  has blue color, magnitude 3.68 and i is very far (1,400 light-years).

Other objects: the Compass contains some open clusters of moderate brightness.
