VULPECULA
The Little Fox
(Vul)


Generalities: it  is a small constellation of the northern sky, deprived of  bright stars and famous only for the presence of a  beautiful  planetary nebula. The Little Fox transits at midnight in August.

Origins and mythology: it is  a constellation  defined in modern times by Hevelius, in 1660. Initially it was called "Vulpecula et Anser", the fox and the goose, but  then the latter disappeared from its denomination.

Stars: the Little Fox doesn't contain any stars under  magnitude 4. The brightest star is of magnitude 4.44 and red color.

Other objects: it contains M27, one of the most beautiful and brightest planetary nebulas, also said  Dumbbell Nebula. This nebula is already visible with  binoculars under a  dark  sky.
