- Moon nodes - June 2000

The moon crosses the ecliptic two times per month. The points where the lunar orbit meets the ecliptic are called nodes.
The node is descending if the Moon goes from north to south, the node is ascending if the Moon goes from south to north. Whenever the moon crosses the ecliptic plane when the phase is new moon, a solar eclipse occurs, if the phase is full moon a lunar eclipse occurs.

June, 5th: ascending node     h 08.53 UT (phase: 13%)
June, 19th: descending node    h 08.34 UT (phase: 94%)

UT=Universal time

The UT, used by astronomers, is corresponding to Greenwich Mean Time.
