We will be dealing with the panels that come packaged with a panel folder with
files inside and a zipped gauge folder and maybe a zipped sound folder.
There are panels that come all broke apart as separate files and need more in depth
I will not deal with this type of panel here its up to the maker to instruct if they
instructions that should be included with the panel set, follow them to the letter
your going to have to make the folders and separate the files.
I hate these type of downloads for there just a jumbled mess to a new Flightsimmer.
are going to be that lazy, The panel is probably not worth having.
Making a new panel work with a default plane and have the plane show
on the list as a new and separate aircraft on the aircraft select list.
to an aircraft that is already on the list and you want the panel and plane to be a
new plane on the list.
We will be using the default Lear 45 in this example:
Inside the FS2000 aircraft folder create a new folder and name it Lear2 .
This will be where we install the plane and panel.
Unzip the new panel it should come with instructions how to install it, in most cases
there is a folder named panel and then there will be a zip file called gauges
and in some cases one called sound.
The panel folder and its files inside go to the new Lear2 folder unzip the gauges and
place them in the Fs2000 gauges folder and then unzip the panel sounds and place them
in the Fs2000 sound folder these are mostly switch clicks and warning sounds.
So at this point we have placed the panel folder inside the new Lear2 folder and
have installed the gauges that came with the new panel in the FS2000 gauges folder and
the panel sounds in the FS2000 sound folder.
We have a Lear2 folder with a panel folder in it, now we need a plane to go with it.
Go to the Default Lear 45 folder and copy all files and folders except the panel folder
to the new Lear2 folder.
To do this open the default Lear 45 folder click edit and select all, this will
highlite all files and folders, now hold down Ctrl and with the mouse click on the
panel folder this just deselected the panel folder and the rest should still be
selected release the Ctrl key Click edit then copy, now go to your new Lear2 folder,
open it, and click edit then paste, this should have copied all files and folders
selected to the new Lear2 folder.
Where almost done...
Now we need to make the plane we just copied show up as a new plane on the aircraft
select list, to do this in the new Lear2 folder find the aircraft.cfg file we just
pasted. It has a title= line at the top that is for the default Lear this title is what
shows on the aircraft select list and has to be changed to the new aircraft name, if
you do not it has the same title name as the default Lear 45 and will not show up.
Open the Aircraft.cfg file with notepad and edit the title= line only to the name of
the new plane Lear2 or what ever you want, below is a copy of the first part of my
Aircraft.cfg file for the Default Lear 45. As you can see Here, I have added a PJ for
Private Jet In front of the name so it will be in the order I want on the list.
[fltsim.0]
title=PJ Learjet 45
sim=Lear45
model=
panel=
sound=
texture=
Now change the title= line in the aircraft.cfg file for the new plane to read:
[fltsim.0]
title=Lear2
sim=Lear45 <----Do not change the sim= just the title=.
model=
panel=
sound=
texture=
Now save the file back into the new Lear2 folder as Aircraft.cfg
If all is ok with the new panel you will now have a new aircraft called Lear2 on the
aircraft select list.
Installing a new panel into a new plane or replacing a panel in a plane that
is already installed that already has a panel.
it, in most cases there is a folder named panel and then there will be a zip file
called gauges and in some cases one called sound. unzip the gauges and place them in
the Fs2000 gauges folder and then unzip the panel sounds and place them in the Fs2000
sound folder these are mostly switch clicks and warning sounds.
Now go to the FS2000 aircraft folder and find the folder for the plane you want to
add the panel to, Open it, and rename the old panel folder to read panelold1 this
will turn off this panel.
Now go to the temp folder, select and copy the new panel folder. Return to the plane
folder you are working on open it and paste the new panel folder into the folder.
That's it if you placed the gauges and the sounds right the panel is installed.
Installing a new panel into a new plane or replacing a panel in a plane that
is already installed that already has a panel using the Fsfsconv folder.
it, in most cases there is a folder named panel and then there will be a zip file
called gauges and in some cases one called sound. unzip the gauges and place them in
the Fs2000 gauges folder and then unzip the panel sounds and place them in the Fs2000
sound folder these are mostly switch clicks and warning sounds.
Now go to the FS2000 aircraft folder and find the folder Fsfsconv this is where you
are going install the new panel folder.
go back to the temp folder, Rename the new panel folder to read " panel.anyname "
without the quotes, The red part can be any name you want like the name of the plane,
select and copy the new panel folder, Return to the Fsfsconv folder
open it and paste the new panel folder.
Now go to the FS2000 aircraft folder and find the folder for the plane you want to
add the panel to, Open it, and rename the old panel folder to read panelold1 this
will turn off this panel.
Make a new folder and name it to read panel, and then open it, bring up notepad and make
a panel.cfg file to read the following text only.
[fltsim]
alias=FSFSConv\panel.anyname <---the red needs to match the new panel name in the Fsfsconv folder.
Now SaveAs panel.cfg into the panel folder inside the aircraft folder you are working on.
That's it if you placed the gauges and the sounds right the panel is installed.
