Cardon cacti resembling the Arizona saguaro, but a strain of its own,
cover the landscape of the central Baja California desert. A Miocene basalt
flow on the right side of the image is a common feature in the Catavina
region. Notice the flat erosional surface typical of La Posta type plutons.
