My Prescription for Terminating the Abortion War

At the start of World War II, that great sucker, British Ambassador Neville Chamberlain, returned from negotiations with Adolph Hitler saying, "We have peace in our time!" Little did he understand that some forces cannot be dealt with through negotiation and compromise; they can only be controlled if they are crushed. So it is with radical pro-abortionists and with the mercenary profiteers among them. There can be no negotiated peace between them and pro-lifers because they will neither discuss the issue honestly, nor concede to even the most obvious compromises. Like the Nazis with whom their mother, Margaret Sanger, colaberated, they can only be dealt with by being crushed on the battlefield of politics.

The abortion debate is indeed a war. There have been casualties on both sides. Illegal abortion led to, and legal abortion leads to, mothers' deaths by the dozens each year, and legal abortion leads to babies' deaths by the dozens each minute. Both sides employ rhetorical techniques, and the pro-abortion side additionally uses disinformation tactics. Both sides have their share of violent people. And both sides are fighting on several fronts.

I'm reluctant to publish my ideas about how to take the wind out of both sides' sails. If either side is right -- and I believe the pro-life side is -- then any equilibrium between the two extremes would have an enormous toll, not only on the losing (pro-abortion) side, but also on the conscience of the side (pro-life) which gains so much ground. For now, I'll merely state that we are not at equilibrium, that the current situation is almost against the stops at the extreme left end of the political spectrum. Were the moderate position of most Americans to achieved democratically, much of the momentum of the pro-life movement would dissipate. I don't want that to happen. I would only want to see a moderate state achieved if it were part of a movement toward the right, carried along by victories in the process of achieving a more honest debate.

For this reason, this topic is a low priority. Consider the page to be under construction.
