History: In 1977 the pro-Soviet "Flamman-group" broke out of VPK. Among the outbreakers were Alf Löwenborg (Editor of Flamman) and Rolf Hagel (that had been chairman of the youth league in the 60's), both CC-members and MP's in the national parliament. The Flamman-group formed Arbetarpartiet Kommunisterna (APK, Workers' Party the Communists), claiming to be succesors of the Communist Party of Sweden. Hagel became the leader of the new party. APK was extremly pro-Soviet and had close contacts with the USSR and GDR. The stronghold of APK were in the Norrbotten Region where it got about 3% as it's best electoral result. Otherwise, APK was electorally a dismal flop. When the Berlin wall fell, APK entrered a severe crisis. Flamman, the main organ of the party, became indepent. In 1995 the APK went economically bankrupt (being the first political party in Sweden ever to do that). The Hagel-group then formed a new party, calling it Sveriges Kommunistiska Parti (SKP, Communist Party of Sweden). However, when the APK broke apart, two minor groups of ex-APK:rs had also founded parties with the same name. One of the minor SKPs had gotten the official right to the name. Therefore SKP-Hagel runs elections as "Kommunisterna" (the Communists).
The SKP that has the official right to the name SKP has the following
address:
SVERIGES KOMMUNISTISKA PARTI, Box 3408, S-165 01 HÄSSELBY
It's unclear whether that group has any activity at all.
