The accusation of ritual murders carried out by the Jews dates back to the Middle Ages but survives even today. In recent times, in the Italian city of Trento, a revival of the San Simonino cult took place. San Simonino was a child,  later canonized by the Catholic Church, allegedly killed by the Jews. The cult has been exploited for anti-Semitic purposes from time to time.
