Eli Joseph, 43, on Sunday completed day 35 of his hunger strike opposite the Knesset on behalf of Jonathan Pollard. Joseph, who explained to ISRAELWIRE that he is existing on fluids, is planning to remain opposite the Knesset for another 20 days after which time he plans to move to the White House in Washington, where he will continue his strike on behalf of Jonathan Pollard.

Joseph, the father of two and resident of Maale Adumim, is a former activist affiliated with the Betar Zionist organization in the UK. He told ISRAELWIRE that he is unable to understand how the government of Israel has abandoned Pollard who was acting as an agent of the state and feels obligated to do his utmost to assist Pollard in obtaining his release from a US prison facility.

When asked how it was that he was staging a hunger strike for over a month and it has not been reported in the local media, Joseph stated that he has contacted the mainstream press repeatedly but they told him they were uninterested in his story.
