Raraul is the legendary mountain of the city

  • Visit the city. A walk through its streets is more than worth. The city has an obvious taste of cosmopolitanism - like, I believe, any other mountain city. Old buildings are decorating the principal streets - remembering the almost forgotten times of the Habsburg Empire.

Beautiful traditional costumes...

  • The villages around keep wonderful traditions. Take a bus or a local taxi (very cheap) and go to Fundu Moldovei. It's just 10 km away. On Saturdays and Sundays morning  - people are going to the church dressed in beautiful costumes. It's a wonderful little village. You will feel like going back in time....
  • Go to the nearby forests of Campulung. Quite soon you'll find yourself asking how could you survive so far without such peace and serenity...Listen to the forest. I was once almost sure that the song of the forest is more interesting than the sea's.
  • Well - what about a barbecue or a picnic in the woods? I tell you - there's nothing more delicious than some food after cleaning up your lungs with such clean air... (Be careful with the fire). While wondering in the old woods, will be surely amazed by the plenty of wild strawberries, raspberries, bilberies and mushrooms.
  • Go and tame Rarau. This mountain is the symbol for the region. It reaches more than 1,600 m. While rising up, you will pass over some very beautiful valleys, hasty ice-cold springs and very dark forests. There are some marked itineraries which are aiming for the top of Rarau. Right at the top you will find a nice motel - a place to relax and re-capture your strengths. The place offers a breathtaking panorama over the region and the neighboring mountains.
  • THE MONASTERIES... - there's so much to say about them. For the time being I am proposing you some links to follow for more information.
