WORDS OF THE EZLN DELEGATION AT THE CLOSING CEREMONY OF
THE SECOND INTERCONTINENTAL GATHERING FOR HUMANITY AND AGAINST
NEOLIBERALISM.
Compañeros and compañeras:
We want to thank you for the great effort of hope and harmony in
our hearts.
Hand in hand we will create a stronger, more human unity. We will
give form to our moments of struggle, in our countries, in our world.
We hope this second gathering for humanity and against
neoliberalism will benefit our lives both today and always.
Let us not forget that our unity is very strong, stronger than
that which opposes us, the exploited ones, the humiliated ones.
In this way we can learn of the strength of our humility, our
simplicity, together with our unknown companions. And yet we know
each other through struggle.
We are equal, there is nobody who is more important. We are all
important.
We thank the Andalusian compañeros for their hospitality
and for the example they have set us. They tell us they prefer to be
poor but free, and not to lose their dignity as humans.
We will meet each other through our sense of struggle, and we will
all learn some more.
Likewise, we thank our brothers and sisters in Madrid for their
hospitality and their attention.
Those in Barcelona, for their affection and the courage of their
young people.
The compañeros in Ruesta, for their ideas about the
differences between peoples, which the world must learn to respect.
And those who came together in Almuñecar, we thank them for
their hospitality in struggle.
And all those here, on our farm which is called El Indiano, an
example of the good way in which humanity resists, by working and
setting an example.
Brothers and sisters we ask you to continue resisting, as we do.
Your future - and ours - is to triumph.
You also show us that there must be everything for everybody, and
nothing for us.
Thank you brothers and sisters. We will see each other again soon.
That is all, compañeros and compañeras.
Yours,
(Signed)
