Note: Henry I was Duke of Normandy from 1106-1135 and King of England from 1100-1135. William I left Normandy to his oldest son Robert II and England to his next oldest son, William II. Henry was left great wealth and eventually outmanuvered his brothers to become King of England in 1100 and ruled 35 years. Henry is remembered for expanding and strengthening royal justice, integrating the Norman and Anglo-Saxon legal systems, and laying the foundation for more centralized royal rule.
