A question that people frequently ask me is my stance on abortion. The only way that I can ethically answer them is with a firm "NO". I believe that abortion is as wrong as it is to murder a person. I know that this is my own personal belief. I know that I said in the past that it should be a punishible murder, but I have come to realize that while it may be my belief, it is an unrealistic one for the country. I feel that there are bigger things that this country needs taken care first, for example illegal drugs, crime, and education. Through education, I hope that we can inform future generations that there are ways other than abortion. I want to try to make abortion unnecessary.
In your opinion, is Clinton liberal, or is he taking Republican ideas and claiming them?
In my opinion, yes I do feel that Clinton is taking Republican ideas and claiming them as his own. If he is going to continue to take credit for the repulicans work, then he himself should become a republican.
I recieved an intresting e-mail a few days ago from a guy who wanted to see what my platform was. Then i realized that I have not really established one. So, here it comes. One of the issues he asked about is about families. I am definately, 100% pro-family. I feel that if there was more "unity" in american families, there would be less crime, fewer cases of abuse(alchol, spouse, child), fewer case of divorce, fewer cases of teen runaways and teen suicide, fewer cases of kidnapping, and fewer cases of domestic violence. I want to emphasize the importance of family values to this country, since we are a people who learn by expamle, maybe the example that I will set will be one that could change the views of the American people.
I had a question that is not political but how do I view divorce and remarriage. I feel that divorce is justifiable if the relationship is detremental to the couple. If the relationship becomes abusive, that is also justifiable. Remarriage is ok if the couple have gone through pre-marital counciling. I believe that every couple should go through pre-marital counciling before being married. This relates back to the question above this one. Family relations is a major thing in this day and age. Many couples are divorced and that could lead to the break down of many families in America.
I must thank Philip de Bruin for this question. Up until now, I really haven't put a lot of thought into the smoking problem. To begin with, there is not a lot that I can do about people of the age of 18 and older. Those people are legally adults, and the only thing that could possibly be done is if a piece of legislation would manage to get through both the House and the Senate to raise the prices of cigarettes and make them more difficult to attain. As for children, I would strongly push for proof of age through a strongly encrypted computer networking system and two valid pieces of identification. This way, the store clerks can screen the people who are purchasing tobacco products. I feel that this will bring the age of smoking up to adults. There is no way of preventing children from smoking all together, because they could possibly have friends who are older and able to obtain them. Or children could even get them from their parents. All I can really do is push for legislation that would prevent children from buying tobacco products.
As for cigarette companies sponsoring different events, I feel that it would be very difficult to remove them from sponsoring many events. I think that for the only way to get them to remove the sponsorship is to have a nationwide ban on those events that have cigarette companies as sponsors. Granted that a ban of such magnitude would be difficult to pull off, other companies should come in and out bid the cigarette companies as sponsors of those events.
