BUROVIAN PARTY
The Burovian Party of Lendosa is dedicated to the advancement of the political and economic philosophy known as burovianism. As such, it works towards the two main goals of the burovian ideology - the doctrine of "peace, freedom, and prosperity", and the establishment of a meritocratic (rather than democratic) system of governance. The Burovian Party does not currently holds any seats in the Senate. The party is led by Fernando Galteri, and the deputy leader is Julia Sura. Danarico Tamo currently holds the position of party Secretary.

"While a nation should be guided by the views of the people, elected politicians who are chosen on the basis of their public image seldom have the ability to govern well. Only professional administrators, appointed on the basis of skill, are fit to rule."

Government
The Burovian Party is one of only two parties that does not believe that Lendosa should be governed as a representative democracy. Rather, it advocates the Burovian pattern, believing that government would be more responsible and efficient if it operated on meritocratic lines. They claim that while the government should generally conform to public opinion, elected representatives are not suitable rulers, and say that elections do not necessarily provide the best candidates for government. Specifically, their policies for restructuring the Lendosan government include:Economy
- Remove the power of the Senate, turning it into a forum for public opinion only. Instead, give power to the Andrade [civil service], with all authority and position being gained on the basis of competence.
- Increase the power of the Regulators to investigate the operations of the government. This will help to ensure honesty in the Andrade.
- Increase salaries for government employees, thereby encouraging better qualified people to apply for positions and reducing the temptation of corruption.
The Burovian Party is strongly in favour of Burovianism's idea of a "partisan free market", which is a mercantilist theory advocating state activity in the marketplace to promote economic growth.Crime
- Grant tax benefits to Lendosan companies that buy from other Lendosan companies rather than from foreign firms, thus increasing Lendosa's economic growth performance.
- Encourage Lendosan companies to manufacture within Lendosa (rather than in cheap-labour countries) by means of tax incentives.
- Use Lendosan diplomatic channels to advance the interests of Lendosan companies abroad, thereby strengthening Lendosa's economy.
The Burovian Party follows a criminal policy similar to that employed in the Greater Burovian Realm. This involves a generally harsh stance against crime.
- Adopt the same "two strikes" policy used in Burovia - any individual found guilty of two serious criminal offences will automatically receive the death penalty.
- Increase the penalties for alcohol and drug offences considerably.
- Resist all attempts to legalize the possession of guns by civilians.

Issues Facing the Party
![]()
The Burovian Party, being a smaller group, does not have a huge amount of influence on government policy, and therefore cannot implement the main planks of its manifesto - without a major increase in support, it ccannot even begin its work of establishing a real burovian system in Lendosa. Because of this, many people who might otherwise support the party will not - its primary goals are seen as unattainable, and its secondary (yet more attainable) goals are represented just as well by other parties.
Also, the Burovian Party suffers because it is sometimes seen as too closely linked to another country. The fact that the burovian philosophy is so closely linked to the Greater Burovian Realm (which was established as a federation of states adhering to burovianism) means that many people see the Burovian Party as a representative not of the ideology but of the country. Although the Burovian Party in Lendosa was not established with the help of the Burovian Realm, and has not advocated that Lendosa join it, many Lendosans believe that integration into Burovia would be a natural result of adopting the burovian philosophy. This impression has been reinforced by advertising campaigns by the Nationalist Party, which claims that members of the Burovian Party "are probably more loyal to their ideological allies in Surina [the Burovian capital] than they are to Lendosa and its people."

History of the Party
![]()
The Burovian ideology itself was established in Westria, where it was the means of governance established by the Bureau of Westrian Affaires (it was originally known as "Westocracy"). It is now the basis for the Greater Burovian Realm, a federation of theoretically independent nations all governed under a Burovian system. It is based around three supposed values - peace, freedom, and prosperity. It claims to achieve the first by means of a neutral foreign policy and a strong stance against crime, the second by strong government action against repression and discrimination, and the third by implementing a so-called "partisan free market" (in the view of many parties, this is simply a reworking of the old mercantilist economic system, in which the state intervenes in the economy by various means to encourage growth and expansion). It also advocates that government be conducted not by elected representatives but by a meritocratic system run as if it were a "professional management company". Supporters of Burovianism claim that democracy encourages a system that is essentially "a money-driven popularity contest", and claim that a meritocratic system would be honest, trustworthy, and always working in the country's interests (a claim which is far from accepted by most Lendosan political parties).
Burovianism itself, being a fairly new ideology, does not have a traditional following in Lendosa to draw on, but many people who hold mercantilist viewpoints have been drawn to the philosophy in recent times. Foremost among these people was Majo Garibano, who was formerly Manager of Marketing for Lanatira Technologia, Lendosa's largest corporation. Garibano decided that the Burovian philosophy was similar enough to his own views, and established a group called the Association for the Promotion of Burovianism. Before long, the organization had grown to a reasonable size, and was becoming active in advocacy and political lobbying.
After the establishment of the Lendosan Confederation, which had an electoral system more favourable to smaller parties than the old Empire did, Garibano decided to turn create a political party based on a Burovian platform, relying on the Association for the Promotion of Burovianism for a base. The launch of the party was delayed for some time due to organizational difficulties, but when it was finally established in 301 AP, it had a solid basis and detailed policies. A few months after the foundation, Uranio Usico, a Balance Party member and an elected representative of Regasia, declared his intention to transfer his allegiance to the Burovian Party at the next elections, and subsequently managed to gain re-election in his region (something attributed more to his personal popularity there than to his choice of party - Regasia is not particularly supportive of the party as a whole), making him the only Burovian senator to be elected by a direct vote rather than gain a place through proportional representation. Majo Garibano has stated his belief that the Burovian Party will one day gain majority support among Lendosa's people, enabling it to establish a Burovian state, but most other parties dismissed Burovianism as "a short-term phenomenon."
Majo Garibano and Uranio Usico both retired from politics at the 304 AP elections, and Fernando Galteri became leader. The party performed surprisingly poorly, losing all four seats. It attempted to re-enter the Senate in the 306 AP elections, but was unsuccessful - Galteri offered his resignation, but the party declined. The Burovian Party has expressed an intent to "continue the fight", and plans to contest the next election.
