MORALIST PARTY
The Moralist Party was a short-lived political party which based itself around family and community values. It was founded by members of the Cruisian Party, which was prohibited from contesting elections - the Moralists followed much the same policy as the Cruisians, but without the explicit religious basis. The party almost immediately became a component of the Values Party, but did not re-emerge when the Values Party disintegrated.

Quote
![]()
"Despite the claims of the liberals, the life choices of individuals are a community affair. Degeneracy and immorality on the part of individuals damages society as a whole, and so society has both the right and the duty to restrict the ability of individuals to make these destructive, morally bankrupt choices."

History of the Party
![]()
The Moralist Party has its roots in the Cruisian Party, a religious party founded in 269 AP. The Cruisian Party soon found itself barred from participating in elections, and although it chose to remain registered (both as a protest against the ban and in the hopes that the ban would be lifted) some members believed that "secularisation" was the answer. Arguing that it was possible to pursue a "Cruisian values" platform despite the measures against religious parties, this faction established the Moralist Party in 303 AP - its basic policies were essentially identical to that of the Cruisian Party, but because it did not have an explicit religious foundation, the party was not classified as religious.
The Moralist Party did not contest any elections on its own, however - shortly after its creation, it joined forces with eight other groups to form the Values Party, an alliance that had been predicted before the Moralist Party had even been launched. The Values Party saw itself as "the party of virtue", which it defined as including personal morality, hard work, and just reward (or punishment). The overall effect was to create a party which supported traditional family values and opposed "leftism" (including economic interventionism and social liberalism). The Values Party began with one Senator (the last surviving member of the old Capitalist Party), but lost this seat in the 304 AP elections. The Values Party then disintegrated - while there were moves to establish the Moralist Party as an independent force again, the various factions involved could not come to an agreement. The Moralist Party thus ceased to exist.
