RADICAL PARTY
The Radical Party was a minor party which pursued policies of extreme individualism. It is sometimes classified as an anarchist organisation, although it did not actually support the complete abolition of the state. It strongly opposed the idea of a strong central government, or indeed any strong institutions (corporations, trade unions, churches, etc) saying that they were illegitimate and tyrannical entities which sought to deprive people of control over their own lives. It attacked any policies it considered "socialist", including taxation, provision of health and education, censorship, and the existence of the police and military (which it saw as "a tool by which the powerful oppresses those who refuse to bow to them"). In the view of the Radical Party, the government was an organisation dedicated to preventing people from controlling their own lives. The Radical Party contested one election before being banned for taking part in terrorist activities.

Quote
![]()
"There is no such thing as a benevolent government. Governments exist solely to exert control over people, and deprive them of their autonomy. They cannot be improved, reformed, corrected, or fixed, as control over people is a fundamental part of their nature - they can only be fought."

History of the Party
![]()
The Radical Party was founded by Niana Talbera, a political activist who was involved with a number of different groups before turning to anarchism. After first joining the Liberal Party (where she was one of the more radical members) and the Communist Party, she joined the Fascists (then illegal), approving of their stance against "attempts by the state to re-engineer society to their own liking". Talbera did not agree with a large number of other Fascist Party policies, however - many senior members of the party did not consider her a true Fascist, and attempted to expel her. Owing to the arrest of its leaders, the Fascist Party was in a state of disarray at the time, and the expulsion attempts failed - a small anarchist-leaning faction gradually formed around Talbera. Some members of the party feared that Talbera would actually gain the upper hand, and "hijack" the Fascist Party. Under the leadership of Mercutio Algarto, however, the Fascists gradually stabilised, and began to purge factions that significantly deviated from their founding principles - Talbera and her faction were forced to leave, and founded the separate Radical Party in 257 AP.
The Radical Party contested the 260 AP elections, although its participation was mostly symbolic, aimed at gaining the group publicity. It did not win any seats. A year afterwards, a crude bomb was detonated in a Riva shopping mall, injuring two caretakers, and members of the Radical Party were implicated. Despite claims that the party's leadership had not known or approved of the bombing, several members of the party testified that senior figures had been involved, and the party was banned. Talbera committed suicide for apparently unrelated reasons a short time afterwards. A small remnant of the party survived underground until 277, but for the most part, its activities were restricted to promoting its philosophy with pamphlets and graffiti. Two decades after the party was formally disbanded, a number of figures claiming to represent it were involved in the formation of the Loyalist Party, although other former Radicals strongly denounced this association.
