SEGREGATIONIST PARTY
.
The Segregationist Party was a minor group in the early 3rd Century AP that sought to enforce strict barriers between races, classes, religions (some of which it considered inherently superior to others). It sought to preserve privilege for the wealthy and the aristocracy, to physically separate ethnic and religious groups for each other by restricting right of residence and providing separate schools and hospitals, and ban intermarriage between races and religions. It won a single seat in its first election, but lost it shortly afterwards and never regained it.

Colour and Emblem

The official colour of the Segregationist Party was a greyish green. Its symbol was a circle divided into four parts, representing the division of society.

The party's official name in Lendian was "lo Partido Segregaziano".

Quote

"That there are different types of people is an obvious truth that needs no debate, as is the fact that some are obviously better than others. One does not mix diamonds with rocks, and treat them as if there were no difference - so should it be with people."

History of the Party

The Segregationist Party was the third officially recognised political party to emerge, having been founded in 200 AP. To a large extent, it was a reaction to a gradual decline in the traditional separation of social groups at the time - the distinction between rich and poor had decayed with the emergence of a large middle class, and matters such as race and religion were becoming less important determiners of a person's social circle. The dominant party of the time, the Imperials, was generally embracing these changes, while its rival, the Monarchist Party, was not concerned with them except so far as they related to the aristocracy. The Segregationist Party was founded by Denro do Sevelereo, an aristocrat who believed that a new political force was needed if the old order was to be preserved.

In the 200 AP elections, do Sevelereo himself was elected, largely based on his personal reputation. No other Segregationist candidates were successful, however - most of those who sympathised with its position did not believe the party would be successful, and gave their support to the Monarchists. In the following election, do Sevelereo lost his seat. The party persisted until 242 AP, but never regained representation in the Council. Many of its members transferred their support to other groups, such as the Eugenics Party or the more mainstream Conservative Party.
