BOYCOTT INDIA'S REPUBLIC DAY CELEBRATIONS
Dated 15 January 1999
It may be recalled that a unanimous decision to boycott the celebrations of major Indian events like 'Republic Day' , 'Independence Day', etc. in our Region was taken in a meeting of the above Parties held last year. It is on the strength of that decision that this Statement is being issued to boycott the 'Republic Day' celebrations of India in our Region.
As we all know, India's Republic Day is that day when the Indian Constitution came into force .And it is this 'Indian Constitutions' that is claimed to be the legal basis of the colonial occupation of our Region by India. It is this 'Indian Constitution' that denies the fundamental human right of national self-determination to the peoples of our Region. It is this 'Indian Constitution' that sanctions the brutal military repression of the human aspirations of our peoples. It is this 'Indian Constitution' that sanctions and protects the gross violation of human rights of our peoples by the Indian Occupation Force. In short, it is this 'Indian Constitution' that sanctions state terrorism against the peoples of our Region. What shall be done, then?
In the overall colonial situation in the Region today, celebration of Indian events like the Republic Day is nothing but indulgence in self-deception. Because the simple fact is that we were never Indians, we are distinct peoples and nations in our own right. Above all, the Region was never a part of India. Therefore, the entire peoples of the Region should understand together that the Indian Constitution could never be the legal basis of our existence as distinct peoples. Allowing to be so means surrendering ourselves to perpetual slavery in colonial bondage. That further means loss of our distinctive identities to Indian assimilation besides allowing India to loot and plunder our rich natural resources. In short, our existence as peoples, even as individuals, is at stake under the Indian constitution. Then, we should reject the Indian constitution. For the struggling peoples of the Region, India's Republic Day is an occasion to express our symbolic rejection of the Indian constitution.
Therefore, the above mentioned parties hereby jointly declare to observe a GENERAL STRIKE from the midnight of 25/26 January to 5 P.M. of 26 January 1999 in the entire Region to boycott India's Republic Day celebrations. We call upon the entire peoples of the Region to observe the Boycott in most effective manner.
Signed by
Representatives of the above Parties.
Editorial
Vicious effort to divert the ire of the peoples
Concerning "talks" and present secret killings in Assam, colonial India very carefully continues a conspiratorial propaganda through their all yellow media. All the statements and clarification from ULFA are willfully distorted by govt. sponsored News Media. Suddenly, they are metriculously bursting some baseless tropics through this process. Quite recently the Puppet Chief Minister of Assam had stated in a press meeting that ULFA Chairman Arabinda Rajkhowa had sent a letter for 'Talk' to retd. Lt. Gen. S. K. Sinha, the colonial representative of India in Assam which was highlighted with front-page cover-up by all the state-sponsored news media around the world. Surprisingly, after being denied those baseless alleged report vehemently by the Hon'able Chairman immediately in a press release, challenging Mahanta and retd. Lt. Gen. S.K. Sinha to disclose it publicly, all of their news media instruments are quit silent. Of course, S. K. Sinha frankly said that no letter had been received by him from ULFA Chairman. However, the later news information is not spread around as like as the previous one. Thus all the colonial media is intentionally trying to conceal the heneious deeds happening inside Assam from the eyes of world democratic peoples.
On the contrary, suppressed and exploited people of Assam are
reflecting their hatreds on the colonial India by every means of
daily life. However, India have tried to divert the people's ire
by a engamatical psychological war through the puppet Assam govt.
They believe that by this way they can hunt double in single
bullet, one in tackling ULFA and another in posting contradiction
between ULFA and AGP workers. thus setting off by their own
deeds, India has tried to keep ULFA in engage with P.K.Mahanta
and his team which means their success for the hairpin divert of
the wrath of th people of Assam against the colonial repression.
But th struggling people of Assam and the ULFA identifies the
colonial India as their real enemy prior to the commencement of
the freedom movement which we need not to reconfirm.
Tactically India likes to select it as the ripe time to surprise ULFA inside Bhutan. India is maneuvering pressure upon the Bhutan government to allow their military and use helicopter gunship to take on ULFA inside Bhutanese territory. Under tremendous pressure Bhutan constrained to permit para-military forces for a weeklong period to continue campaign against ULFA camp. Nevertheless, Ulfa vows its stand towards the Indian army that any provocation from Indian side will be retaliated with necessary measure.

History should not be denied
Assam Governor.
History is termed as the root of any nation. A man's country is not only the lands, mountains, rivers or the woods but there must be a true history of the evolution of the country.
'Assam is proud of its own history that advocates with supremacy that it was never a part of India at any time . Whatever may be the difference with the aim and objectives of ULFA but their demand of a distinct nationhood of Assam as per the history of any era is absolutely correct. Every conscious people should admit it without any hasitation'. It is not a verse of any nationalist person from Assam or of any prominant historian but an honest admission of the Lt. Gen. S.K.Sinha, the present Governor of Assam.
Will his admission suffice for the survival of the peoples of Assam where he is acting as a direct layman of the colonial Indian rule? As we do believe, truth is undivisible and universal. Hope he realisation about the history of Assam will be stretched out to his role under the Indian occupation.
