Plea for Support
Check this out. This was sent to somebody that I know (to put it kindly) does not like Bill or Hillary :

Dear Ms. 'Smith',
I'm not known for mincing words when it comes to issues I care deeply about.
So I hope you will understand if I get right to the heart of a matter that concerns me and should concern every Democrat in our country.
Why should it only concern Democrats?
Why not everyone?
The Republican Party and its powerful right-wing allies, having repeatedly demonstrated how far out of touch they are with the American people, are now going all out to strengthen their grip on the U.S. Senate.
So I guess it's time that the Democrats
and their powerful left-wing allies, having
demonstrated that they (and only they) know
what's good for all of us, are now going all out
to strengthen their grip on the U.S. Senate, right?
If they succeed, America will be virtually defenseless against their extremist agenda.
Ditto.
Equally troubling is the prospect of critical issues facing our nation -- including the future of Social Security and our educational system -- continuing to be ignored by a Republican-controlled Senate.
Pardon me - one moment. Where in the
Constitution does it give the Federal
Government permission to address issues
such as Socialized Welfare and our
educational system?
You see, these issues have not been ignored.
They've just been put in the proper context.
The issues have been addressed -- just not
to YOUR liking.
I'm writing to ask for your help in preventing those possibilities and restoring a Democratic majority to the U.S. Senate.
Why would I want to do that? So that the Democrats
can continue to make things worse, as they did for
some 40 years while THEY controlled the Senate?
You can help by joining the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee (DSCC).
Why?
By returning a generous contribution to the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee in the enclosed envelope, you can play a vital role in the DSCC's plans to TAKE BACK THE SENATE IN 2000.
Ah-ha ! You want my money! Of course,
you've ALWAYS been after my money. I
should have known.
Also - if the Republican-majority Senate is
such a threat, and so obviously out of touch
with the people, then why do you need to spend
so much on a campaign to defeat them?
Take back the Senate? Who took it away?
Was it stolen? - or did the American people
exercise their right to vote and throw out
a bunch of Democrats?
Your prompt response is needed because we have an unprecedented opportunity to TAKE BACK THE SENATE -- by picking up just five more seats in next year's elections, we can end the reign of Trent Lott, Jesse Helms and other GOP senators who have stood in the way of progress on issues you and I care so much about.
Reign? I thought they were elected
by the people.
When Republicans are able to block Democrats,
they 'stand in the way'. What do you call it when
Democrats block Republicans?
"... issues you and I care so much about" - yeah,
I care about STOPPING you.
There are no shortages of pressing issues demanding the Senate's attention: saving Social Security... protecting patients' rights... Medicare and Medicaid reforms... improving America's schools by hiring new teachers and making our streets safer with 150,000 new police officers.
Translation: As if it weren't already big enough,
we want to make the Federal Government even larger,
wresting more control from local governments... this
makes us, your elected leaders, that much more powerful...
and then once we have control, we don't even have to follow
through on what we promised.
Again ... Where in the Constitution does it
give the Federal Government permission to address
these issues? Also - I thought the Democrats already
"made our streets safer" with 100,000 more police
officers a couple of years ago. Where are they?
Are we going to improve America's schools by
throwing money at the problems, or are we going
to stress the fundamentals and insist on a little
HARD WORK from the teachers, students, and parents?
But as you know, these issues are being neglected by Republican "leaders" who are more interested in placating the most extreme elements of their party than doing the people's business.
Ignored because it's not their place to get
involved. These are issues for the States.
Oh, and you're not trying to appeal to the
most extreme elements of your party? Then why
did you send this letter?
Isn't it a bit presumptuous of you to arbitrarily
decide what the people want? What IS the people's
business? AND what makes the people's business any
of YOUR business? This country is NOT a 'People's
Republic' as is, for example, CHINA. Did you ever
consider the possibility that the people WANT things
done the way the present Senate is doing them? And if
there is such an 'extremist' agenda being executed, then
how did your husband get acquitted of charges that his
defenders freely admit were true?
The surest way to get back to work on real issues is to restore a Democratic majority to the U.S. Senate.
Boy, I wish the Republicans didn't have
'fake' issues. I hate that.
And the best way for you to get involved in the campaigns of Democratic senators and candidates across the country is to support the DSCC today with a generous contribution.
Right! Is ALL my money enough? I figure
if you get your way, you'll eventually get
it all anyway. I might as well just get it
over with ...
Also very curious ... you bill yourselves as the
'working man's party'... I don't know too many working
men who can afford 10,000 dollars/plate to eat dinner
and listen to your condescending remarks.
You see, the DSCC is an indispensable source of support for all Democratic Senators and senatorial candidates. And with our Party needing just five seats to recapture the majority, Democrats have never had a better opportunity to TAKE BACK THE SENATE.
Oh. I thought you relied on CHINA for support,
especially financial. I MUST be mistaken.
The DSCC must get started now with candidate recruitment efforts that will produce strong challengers to take on Trent Lott, Rick Santorum, John Ashcroft and the 16 other Republican Senators who will be up for re-election in 2000.
GOOD. So you're already targeting these Republican
Senate stalwarts for defeat by using your left-wing
political operatives, right?
At the same time, the DSCC needs to give early support to the 14 Democratic Senate stalwarts -- including Bob Kerrey, Ted Kennedy and Dianne Feinstein -- who are already being targeted for defeat by right-wing political operatives.
OOOppps. Didn't mean to steal your line ....
It will not be an easy task.

The massive GOP fund-raising machine is already pouring millions of dollars into the campaign coffers of Republican candidates.
Hey !! Are they allowed to spend their own money?
I thought only Democrats were allowed to spend Republican
people's money! You better do something to make them stop!
So .. that's why you want me to send money ... so the
massive Democratic fund-raising machine can likewise pour
millions of dollars into the campaign coffers of Democratic
Candidates, right?
Maybe you should mention that the "massive GOP fund-raising
machine" collected FAR less money in 1996 than the massive
DEMOCRAT fund-raising machine that is plugged RIGHT into
Hollywood and all the nasty big corporations that they claim
to hate so much. WHO IS REALLY the party of the rich??

Also, I'm actually surprised that you know what a coffer
is, since I haven't known a Democrat who had the
discipline to actually SAVE money, rather than spend
it before they even laid their hands on it.
In addition, our Democratic Senate candidates will need to overcome right-wing political groups with multi-million dollar budgets and extensive grassroots networks primed to attack any Democrat who dares stand against them.
So I AM right. OK.
Are you suggesting that you are NOT primed to attack any
Republican who dares stand against you? From what I've seen,
all the Republicans need to do is oppose you on any matter
of policy and they get linked to Hitler, the Nazis, and Satan
himself (see Newt Gingrich).
Could the fact the Republicans have "extensive
grassroots networks" mean that they have
"WIDESPREAD SUPPORT from the PEOPLE"?
Despite all these challenges, I believe we can TAKE BACK THE SENATE IN 2000 and put an end to the politics of destruction which have disgusted so many citizens.
Boy, you mean those Republicans got voted in instead
of Democrats ?! Is that how it happened? How could that
be? Did they get MORE VOTES ? What does that tell you?
By 'politics of destruction' would you mean bombing an aspirin
factory to divert attention from your misdeeds? OR would that
mean handing over nuclear weapons technology to our largest and most
feared potential adversary? OR would it mean demonizing your opponent
in order to whip the populace into an emotional frenzy in an attempt
to cloud the true facts? Threatening the lives of people who could place
you in legal or political jeopardy? I guess all those things WOULD come
to an end if you had nobody opposing YOUR agenda.
Indeed, for the sake of democracy's long-term health, we must.
The last time I checked, the USA was a Republic with
a Constitution. Did that change? Or is that your GOAL?
If this WERE a democracy, your husband would never have
been elected president in the first place, since it would
require that more than 50 percent of votes would have had
to be cast for him. He never got that.
But it won't happen without your help.
Do you PROMISE? Oh good - I just hope you're right.
That's why, with the future of our great nation at stake, I'm urging you to take action now to ensure Democratic Senate victories in 2000.

I can't recall a time when a strong DSCC was more important than it is today.

And the DSCC's strength, as always is a direct function of the willingness of loyal Democrats like you to get personally involved in Senate campaigns.

So as you consider my request for a contribution in support of the DSCC, please keep in mind that our goal of a Democratic Senate -- while clearly obtainable -- won't be reached easily.

It will take months of hard work and comprehensive campaign support from the DSCC to TAKE BACK THE SENATE IN 2000.
It's up to the DSCC to help sitting Democratic Senators withstand the free spending, mudslinging attacks of their opponents and right-wing political operatives.
Oh, now free-spending is BAD?? You Democrats have
been doing that for years - but with OUR money, not
yours! You've been telling us for years that free-spending
was GOOD. Boy, just when I thought I finally learned from
your example you go and change the rules.
Now, everybody please understand that this letter is
NOT a mud-slinging attack by the DSCC and Mrs. Clinton.
How are you going to stop them? Are you going to use your
left-wing political operatives? Are you one of them?
How committed are you to helping Republicans withstand the
free spending, mudslinging attacks of THEIR opponents?
REMEMBER: Democrats need a net gain of five seats to TAKE BACK THE SENATE.
You know, you remind me of Herr Goebbels. Keep repeating
it often enough, and dummies like me will start believing you.
I had forgotten that the Senate belonged to you.

If you want to see real progress on real issues that matter to all Americans, instead of continued Republican gridlock, now is the time to join the DSCC and help TAKE BACK THE SENATE.
Real issues? You mean the Republican's issues are
still FAKE? Boy, now I really feel like an idiot. They
should stop that gridlock thing, too. I mean, just because
they have a majority doesn't mean that they should have
more of a say in what bills are proposed and passed, right?
You're right... these issues DO matter to ALL Americans...
including the ones who don't want you wresting control of
all power in this country. It really matters to me that you
and your ilk are DEFEATED so that you can do no more
harm to our country.
Republican gridlock? Oh, is that when Republicans don't
allow the Democrats to further destroy America?
DSCC strategic assistance, financial support and voter mobilization efforts are essential during early stages of Senate races.
Right. Make sure that everyone on the public dole
is registered to vote, then make sure they vote for the
Democrat. That's pretty easy to do - just promise them
the Republicans' money if you win. Oh - but you know that
trick already.
So while some Democrats might choose to sit on the sidelines until the new millennium's historic first Election Day is upon us, I'm counting on you to appreciate the need to get involved today.
HEY ! Now there's a reason to vote !! I can tell my
grandchildren that I voted in the "new millennium's
historic first Election Day". I guess if the issues
don't matter to me, at least I'll be part of history.
I say if people have to be encouraged and convinced to
go out and vote, they probably aren't interested enough
in the process to learn enough about the issues to make
an intelligent choice anyway.
By the way ... doesn't the new millenium start in 2001?
The DSCC's drive to TAKE BACK THE SENATE IN 2000 simply can't succeed without your immediate support.
Boy, you know, I do believe that the Senate really MUST
rightfully belong to YOU. I mean, you keep saying so.
WAIT !! If what you're saying is true (You wouldn't LIE
to me, would you? I mean, Bill didn't lie to us, and neither
should YOU.) , then inform everybody in the USA that there
will be NO NEED FOR ELECTIONS. You see, I WILL NOT
SUPPORT YOU, so therefore you will not succeed. Now we can
focus on REAL ISSUES. We can now follow the Constitution and
set things RIGHT in this country - the way they were meant to be.
So please be as prompt and generous as possible in your response. I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Hillary Rodham Clinton
The author is so in tune with the American people that she
insults their intelligence. She is so sure that she knows what
we want and need that she was soundly defeated at the grass
roots in her disastrous (-for her, fortunate for us) attempt to
Federalize (Socialize) the nations' health care. It's a shame we
all just won't let her TELL us what we want.
