My Favorite Young Actresses

Sarah Michelle Gellar

Okay, so Tim got me liking Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I never thought that I would ever watch that show, and I must admit that when I first heard of it I laughed my ass off. But Sarah Michelle kicks ass! And, I just want to say for the record, that I remember that stupid Swans Crossing. I watched it the summer after my freshman year in highschool, and I thought that she was an excellent actress then. Here are some more pictures of Sarah Michelle. Enjoy...

Alicia Silverstone
Thanks for the picture, Tim. Clueless is one of my favorite movies, because I really like movies that are filled with stereotypes. And Clueless is full of stereotypes. I have to say that the reason that I love the movie so much is because Alicia is very convincing as Cher. Now, I don't know if that is because she really is that way in real life, I really don't want to know if she is or not. I should have used a semicolon in that last sentence. Oh well. I remember the first time that I saw her in the Aerosmith video for "Cryin'", I knew she was going to be something someday. Now, that something could have been a hooker in Las Vegas, but, thankfully, she is everywhere nowadays. This girl is amazing and she's just my age, roundabouts. Scary. She's producing. And acting. And being generally gorgeous. Bitch. Of course, not everything this young lady touches turns to gold. Everyone panned Batman and Robin badly, and panned everyone who was in it. Also, her Excess Baggage did not do well critically or by box-office standard. I want to see it anyway, just because she's in it, but I'm pretty sure that it sucks. Hopefully, since I haven't heard that she has any new movies coming out, she is thinking about her next project very carefully. Very very very carefully, otherwise she might not have anymore respect in the business. Of course, she is really young to be overly successful, but I could point to young actresses like Drew Barrymore (another one of my favorites) who is quite successful in almost all of her projects. Which is probably because she flashed Letterman. Here's another pic of Alicia, which I think is really cute.

Claire Danes
Claire is a tremendous actress. Everything that I have seen her in, I have been enormously impressed with her mature acting and great facial expressions. I only watched My So-Called Life because she was in it, not because I really liked the show (because I didn't.) Playing Angela, she was always kind of melancholy and simple. She was not outspoken, but your eyes were always drawn to her. Claire has a presence on the screen that demands your attention. I think that Claire was at her best in Little Women, playing Beth. While Beth is the least-focused on of the March sisters in the movie, in a way she is the most important character. She was the one who held the family together, and constantly reminded them of what was really important. Claire was no short of brilliant in Beth's death scene, talking about how she had never been one to have any aspirations or hopes for the future. I was so moved by her acting; you could really understand the pain in Beth's life and the hope that she felt in the future (in heaven.) Also, Claire was quite good in Romeo and Juliet, much better than Leo DiCaprio, in my ever so humble opinion. Leo seemed to overdo every scene, going for something big, too big. Claire was much more understated and in control of her character. She played Juliet well, with a great modern tone. I was worried when I heard that they were making a modern day R&J, but Claire Danes definitely made it worthwhile. I love the scene where the two kill themselves, not because I am morbid, but because it really highlights her acting skills. While Leo was crying and screaming and trying to steal the scene, Claire's bitter simplicity perfected Shakespeare's words. She was even good in a REALLY bad movie, To Gillian on Her 37th Birthday. She played a really great drunk.
