








Mt. Sunflower - highest point in Kansas

This is the highest point in Kansas. It's got to be the easiest
high point in the country. It's certainly not a true "mountain",
because it doesn't rise more than 2000 feet above the surrounding
terrain. It's actually barely even a hill. The only reason it's
"high" is because it's on a ridge dividing two major drainages just
east of the Colorado border. But that's what makes it fun, right?
There was some clever objet trouve sculpture, some native
Kansas post rock, and a slightly unsettling cow skull mounted high on
a tree branch...
