This easy-to-read modern tablature should be completely faithful to Francois Campion's original tablature. Let me know of any errors you find. Donald Sauter.

Short ID: FC11. Title: Rondeau. Composer: Francois Campion. Source: Nouvelles decouvertes sur la Guitarre. Page 10. Date: 1705. Facsimile: Minkoff (1977), page 26. Tuning: Bb D G C F (tuning 1). Time sig: 3. Fixes and modifications (M=measure r=rhythm s=string): M10r1-2 original shown as 4er (4er). Changed to 8ths here. M32r1-3 original shown as half (half half). Changed to 4ers here. Tablature elements to be added by hand: Slurs. If only a starting point is given, slur includes all the following uninterrupted notes on the same string. M2 r2-3s2, r4s2. M4 r2-3s1, r4s1. M6 r2s2, r4s1. M7 r2-4s2. M10 r1-2s2. M12 r2s1, r4-5s2. M17 r1s1. M20 r2s2, r4-5s3. M24 r2s1, r4-5s2. M31 r3-4s2. Strums: Arrowheads ^ and v indicate strums. Open strings in strummed chords were not shown in the tablature; add as many open strings as sound good. It's worth re-drawing the ^ arrowhead right at the top of the associated stem. Explanation of symbols: " = trill (starting on upper neighbor). , = mordent (main note to lower neighbor and back to the main note). . = do not strum this string in the chord. $ = serves as a segno and "Dal segno" in this rondo. Repeat the first section after each of the others (making the "DC al fine" redundant.) The $ in m9 would make more sense moved to the beginning of m1. Octave doublings: To keep certain musical lines intact on the modern guitar, consider adding or substituting the next octave up. For example, see: m34r3. Performance style: consider playing the piece inegales, that is, with dotted 8ths or "swing" 8ths (triplet feel). Suggested simplification (if need be): ______________ |____________| |_"4______"4_| |__2_ to ____| |__________7_| |____________| |____________| Leading measures in Campion's original tablature: 1 7 13 19 26 33. Last measure is 36. *** Download and edit out all material above and below the tablature. *** See my printing tips in the page, "General comments on the tablature." *** Print out starting with the title line below.
