Subtxtbard - 03/25/99 04:50:18 Did you experience trouble with Puritans?: yes | Comments: When I was on the Hercules slash (stories based on the show, and predominantly m/m) list a year or so ago, one of our members started a picture archive to go with the text archive of stories. Some Puritan ran across it and complained to the server (I think it was tripod) so she lost the pictures. And apparently no one ever re-established the archive. All this happened without any explanation from tripod and despite the fact that the site had a warning about its content. This is a sample of her work. It isn't the best she's done but I couldn't find the others. Probably thanks to the busy, busy Puritans who are looking out for our own good and know what's best for us. http://www.oocities.org/Hollywood/Makeup/8475/Fishing.JPG In another example of Puritan extremism, Phyllis Schafly, the old bag with Eagle Forum, is complaining that Elizabeth Dole should not run for president until her husband stops doing those commercials about impotence and Viagra. As a Kansan I was not a big fan of Dole's voting record, and he was my senator pretty much my whole lifetime. But it took courage for Dole to overcome the embarrassment and talk about the problem so other men might come forward and get help for it. I think Phyllis Schafly needs to move to Iran and go around wrapped up like their women if she wants to be that conservative. Maybe we could start an "Adopt a Puritan" program to help them all move there. |
