Flame Location: N/A | Comments: I don't really have a flame to display on this, but it's something that happened recently which made me quite mad. In one of the online fandom circles with which I associate, there are certain puritanistic individuals who are on a high horse and feel compelled to get back at those they dislike even in forums that have nothing to do with the original issue. I recently entered a business transaction, monitored by an outside source (eBay online auctions) in which I bid on an item from one of the abovementioned individuals. I won the bid fairly and contacted him. Four days passed with no word, and I emailed him again about payment information. He sent me a snide reply saying that I broke the rules by not contacting him (which is either a lie, or the original email was eaten) in three days, so he will not sell to me. He has no reason to believe I am a bad business risk... I have many positive and no negative remarks in my profile, and I have even done business with him once before, and paid him a rather substantial sum of money (quickly, I might add) for what I had ordered. Now I find out that he has insulted me behind my back to at least two different people (for our different viewpoints on what is acceptable for a webpage) and he is refusing to sell to me on ridiculous grounds. (I've never encountered a seller as uptight as he in my life). Anyway, to make a long story short, I think it's disgusting that an adult trying to call himself a professional would be so petty as to drag a personal gripe into a business transaction, especially over something as trivial as making sexually-tinged jokes about a cartoon. |
