Leading Lebanese composer and singer Marcel Khalifa performs in September 1998 during a concert held in Beirut. Khalifa has been formally accused by an investigating judge of insulting Islam, a judicial source said on Saturday, October 2, charged with using the chapter of Yusif from the Moslem holy book the Koran, in one of his songs.

Botros Raeha mourns his brother, deacon Shafik Rajha, who was killed in a bomb blast in the Saint Georgious church in the eastern suburbs of Beirut October 3. A bomb exploded in a church on Sunday just a few minutes after a mass was held there, killing one man.
