At least 15 people were wounded when the demonstrators clashed with police and army troops as they charged towards the embassy to protest against U.S. air attacks on Iraq last week. An Israeli soldier has blood streaming down his face after being wounded along Israel's northern border with Lebanon in an attack by Hizbollah, February 16, 2001. One Israeli soldier was killed and two hurt. Israel has retailiated with artillery fire into Lebanon. The Israeli army confirmed that anti-tank missiles were fired at Israeli troops along the border.

The Hizbollah military media office said these images were taken from a video tape of a Hizbollah attack on an Israeli patrol in Shebaa Farms, February 16, 2001. Israel shelled south Lebanon on Friday in retaliation for the attack in which one Israeli soldier was killed and wounded two others.

Two Palestinian guerrillas prepare an effigy to be burned of Ariel Sharon who won a landslide victory in Israeli elections Tuesday, during protest at Ein el-Hilweh refugee camp on the outskirts of Sidon,Lebanon, on Wednesday Feb. 7, 2001. The Palestinians wrote the words "Butcher of Sabra and Chatilla" in Arabic on "Sharon's" shirt and painted a Swastika over it. Sharon is especially hated among Palestinian refugees in Lebanon for his believed role in the 1982 massacre of Palestinians in the two refugee camps while his troops occupied the city.

Lebanese soldiers check the damage after an explosion that rocked a sweet shop in Beirut's Abu Shaker neighborhood, Saturday Feb. 3, 2001. The explosion in a residential area of Beirut killed two young brothers on their way to school and caused severe damage to a number of stores and parked cars. Police blamed a gas leak in a shop that sold sweets. The blast took place at 7 a.m. in front of the store in Tarek al-Jadideh district, police said. Sami Shouman, 13, and his brother, Mohammed, 9, were hit by debris. Mohammad died shortly after arriving at a hospital and Sami died about three hours later, officials said.
