In
the trees you hear a rustling. Curious, you pause to look around. Then
you hear some tiny sounds -- piping, musical little sounds. Pirp!
Pirp! You scan the foliage, squinting
to see into the shadows of this thicket and that fern tree. For a time
you hear nothing more than the birds in the trees all around you, and the
breeze shuffling the leaves overhead. Shrugging, you turn to continue on
your way. Suddenly, something small and furry charges from behind a fallen
log and like a miniature bullet train barrels straight at your feet! You
stand there rigidly, breathing hard, and when nothing bad happens you gradually
peer down. And there, standing with his four little feet planted firmly
apart, and his fluffy forehead pressed against your shin, is a tiny moose!
He begins to make sad little fluting cries, Pirp!
Pirp! He had been abandoned by his
previous owners and was afraid you would leave too! Unable to resist, you
pick him up and cuddle him, and carry him home ... and this is how Pirp
came to live here with us. :)
