Family Bosses

Giuseppe Profaci

Boss:1930-62

Controlled Staten Island and a part of Brooklyn while boss. Waged war against Crazy Joe Gallo in Brooklyn. This lieutenant wanted to take over the family. Profaci soon defeated the Gallo brothers who did not have much support. He died of natural causes on June 7, 1962.

Joseph Magliocco

Boss:1962-63

Joseph Profaci's brother-in-law who was a member of the National Commission. Magliocco allied himself with Joe 'Bananas' Bonanno, who gave Magliocco a hit list with names of top mob bosses around the country. Magliocco gave the list to one of his enforcers, Joe Colombo, who then brought the list before the Commission. Magliocco was then called on about the list and was allowed to retire, because of his failing health, he was only fined fifty thousand dollars. Later died of a heart attack on December 28, 1963

Joseph Colombo

Boss:1964-71

Renamed the Profaci Family when he took over. He then started the Italian-American Civil Rights League. Allegedly shot by Jerome A. Johnson at the Italian Unity Day Parade in New York, June 28, 1971. Remained in a coma for seven years. The hit was ordered by Carlo Gambino.

Carmine Persico,Jr.

Boss:1971-96

Was underboss of Colombo family of Brooklyn. Assumed control in 1971. In 1987 he was sentenced along side with "Fat Tony" Salerno, and Anthony Corallo during the "Commission Trials" and received a 100 year sentence. currently ranks number six in La Cosa Nostra.

Andrew Russo

Boss: 1996-1999

Cousin to Carmine Persico, Jr., named by his cousin as new boss. He had only been at the top for a few months before he was hit with a racketeering indictment. Alphonse "Allie Boy" Persico, Carmine's son, is supposed to take over for Andrew.

Boss:1999-present

Became boss in 1999 and is ruling the family of made members that number near 130. Indicted on a gun possession charge while on vacation in Florida.
