Gaetano Reina
Boss:19?-31
Old time black Hand-Mafia "don" who controlled the Bronx. Murdered on February 26, 1930, by Vito Genovese during the Castellammarese War.
Guiseppe Pinzolo
Boss:1930
One of the original "Mustache Petes" of New York; murdered on September 9, 1930 by Thomas Lucchese.
Gaetano Gagliano
Boss:1930-53
One of the founding fathers of the modern New York crime syndicate and of course on the Board of Directors of La Cosa Nostra. His family was taken over by Thomas Lucchese in 1953.
Gaetano Lucchese
Boss:1953-67
Sometimes called, "Three Finger Brown", Thomas Lucchese was one of Charles "Lucky" Luciano's favorite gunman in the 1930s. He later became the head of the Gaetano Gagliano crime family, which became the Lucchese family of today. Lucchese's main racket was the garment industry. Paul Vario, a capo under Lucchese was one of the based on characters in the movie "Goodfellas."
Carmine Traunti
Boss:1967-74
Took over the family after Tommy Lucchese died of natural causes. Tramunti had large interests in East Harlem gambling and he controlled floating crap games. This business was conducted from the pet shop owned by Family underboss Big Sam Cavalieri. Other interests revolved around the garment industry of New York which had been turned over from Lucchese to his son in law Thomas Gambino. Tramunti was given a 15 year sentence in 1971 for financing a huge heroin smuggling operation. It was at this time he was listed by police as Boss of the Luchese Family. In 1974 Carmine was indicted on a murder charge sending him to prison.
Anthony "Tony Ducks" Corallo
Boss:1974-87
Boss of family and ranking member in the Mafia Commission. Extortionist who was also active in Long Island with the garbage disposal. He had the nickname "Tony Ducks" because he had "ducked" indictments so many times. He died in prison in 1987 after being sentenced to 100 years on a federal racketeering charge.
Victorio Amusa
Boss:1987-92
Rather than stay in the Joe Gallo crime family, Victor moved on to become a foot soldier in Carlo Gambino's family. Arrested for heroin trafficking in 1977. In 1992 sentenced to life in prison for murder and racketeering.
Steve DeFede
Boss:1992-present
Amusa named ,Steve DeFede as boss of the family when he went to jail. Under DeFede the Lucchese family has moved into new rackets with white collar crime. Many informants "rats" have come from this family recently, and with a recent charge of racketeering the Lucchese family will have their hands full of re-organizing daily operations.
