GERMAN OPERATION ZONE ADRIATISCHES KÜSTENLAND
In 1943, after their occupation of Italy, the Germans - for strategical
reasons - placed the provinces of Fiume, Gorizia, Ljubljana (= Italian part
of Slovenia), Pola, Trieste and Udine under their direct rule.

In 1945 the region was conquered by the Allies. While Slovenia again became
part of Yugoslavia, the remaining came under Allied administration.
