GERMAN OPERATION ZONE ADRIATISCHES KÜSTENLAND

In 1943, after their occupation of Italy, the Germans - for strategical reasons - placed the provinces of Fiume, Gorizia, Ljubljana (= Italian part of Slovenia), Pola, Trieste and Udine under their direct rule. ____________________________________________________________________________

ITALIAN ADMINISTRATORS

Chief Prefect of the Italian provinces (co-ordinated the activities of the prefects of all the Italian provinces - including Zara - except Ljubljana/Slovenia) 1943 - 1945 Bruno Coceani, Prefect (Prefetto) of Trieste province (2) 1893 - (2) German adviser : Rudolf Hinteregger See here for the other prefects. In 1945 the region was conquered by the Allies. While Slovenia again became part of Yugoslavia, the remaining came under Allied administration.
