SWISS CANTON BASEL - LANDSCHAFT
Except for the period 1798 - 1815, the country-territories which had been annexed by the City of Basel since 1400 had always been considered as dependencies, without any real participation in the government of the state. In 1830 this situation resulted in a revolt, which, after the intervention of the Swiss Diet, led to the creation of the separate canton of Basel - Landschaft.
