BRITISH DEPENDENCY OF BERMUDA
Bermuda, until then formally subject to Spain, was occupied by the English in 1609.
First privately owned - by the Virginia Company and afterwards by the Governor and
Company of London for the Plantation of the Somers Islands - it became an English
Colony in 1684.

ANGLICAN CHURCH IN BERMUDA
The first Anglicans settled on Bermuda in the early 17th century.
Their community was subject to the Diocese of London until 1825, to the Canadian
Diocese of Nova Scotia until 1839 and finally to the Diocese of Newfoundland until
1925 when Bermuda became a separate extra-provincial diocese.
