MINOR ISLANDS : THE ECREHOUS AND THE MINQUIERS

At the beginning of the 19th century both island groups were without much interest, being only occasionally visited by smugglers and fishermen. (3) Things changed when oyster fishery gained in importance : Jersey started setting up an embryonic administration in both groups of islands and France started claiming both the Ecréhous (since 1886) and the Minquiers (since 1851?).
