The Foreign Ministry released the following statement, which it posted to the bulletin board of the Grand Alliance:
To the members of the Grand Alliance and the micronational world:
Cherusken would like to extend its regret at Mr. Cain Harwood's
decision to step down from his position as Chief Negotiator, and
thanks him for his work and wishes him well in the future. We
hope that he finds fulfillment in whichever micronation he
chooses to join.
We realize that Cherusken is a relatively new member of the Grand
Alliance; we are not a founder, and have not been active in the
sessions of the Alliance. However, Cherusken believes strongly
in the potential of the Grand Alliance, and hopes that it can
blossom into a micronational forum. However, we must express the
fear that this organization, like so many others, will simply
wither and die, becoming a homepage with no purpose.
We would like all nations, members and otherwise, to please
honestly evaluate the Grand Alliance and its future. Cherusken
seriously hopes that this group can continue, and be strong
enough to survive the departure of a single person. However, the
micronational ideal is that of individuals having an impact, and
the departure of such an individual is often a crisis for a small
group.
If any nations have any imput on this matter, please e-mail us.
Cherusken strongly believes that an intermicronational forum is
an excellent thing, that makes the micronational world that much
more interesting. Bilateral relations are fine and well, but a
body such as this is an excellent focus for the micronational
world. Many organizations have become dead, like the LOSS and
UM. They were all noble efforts, but fell apart in the end. Is
this the road upon which the Grand Alliance now travels?
Cherusken is concerned about the future of the Grand Alliance and
intermicronational relations as a whole, and for that reason,
again solicits the opinions of all who wish to make them known.

Brent Schultze, in his role as councilor in the Assembly, has announced the introduction of two bills for consideration. The bills would define the Foreign Ministry and Ministry of Information, which exist already, but with de facto legal status. The bills will be presented to the other councilors soon. It is hoped that the Assembly will become tangible soon, so that the bills can be voted upon. If not, Brentus Maximus has promised not to take action on the bills without first consulting the Assembly.

In a statement released today, the Foreign Ministry announced the opening of diplomatic relations with the Maya Republic. A link to the Maya Republic has been added to the Foreign Ministry's web page. No ambassador has been named as of yet, and until an ambassador is named, all relations with the Maya Republic will be conducted by the Foreign Minister. The statement also spoke of the good will that had developed between Cherusken and the Maya Republic, and the hope for continued good relations in the future.

King Brentus Maximus, after meeting with the Assembly, announced the government's plan to seek admission to the Grand Alliance. Explaining that the Alliance would not be a violation of the neutrality clause of the Constitution, the king stated, "The Alliance is a micronational forum, whose purpose is to promote dialogue among its members, not compromise their sovereignty. As a small nation, Cherusken cannot afford a policy of isolation." How exactly the government plans to achieve admission has not yet been explained, although it has been noted that any request for admission must be preceded by dialogue with current Alliance members.

In a press conference last night, King Brentus Maximus notified the Cheruskian press and people of several new laws which are in the process of being written at the moment. These "laws in development" will serve to validate and legalize some of the institutions currently existing in Cherusken, such as the Foreign Ministry and the Ministry of Information. Further laws creating various ministries and bureaus are expected in the near future.

Countess Karen Z. has announced the founding of a newspaper, The Cheruskian Sentinel. The first issue is expected by the end of this month. It is to be noted that this paper will be independent of the CNA.
Ms. Z. has promised that the Sentinel will remain independent, and that she will not use it to further her interests as Minister of Information. Also, she notes that she cannot use her position in said ministry to obtain information not normally available to any Cheruskian on behalf of the paper.
