AB/1.0/1999/Election Law
Proposed by: Councilor Schultze In order to establish and clarify the procedures for electing the Councilors of the Kingdom of Cherusken, the following law is hereby enacted: There shall be created the Office of Elections, which will be headed by the King, who is charged with the maintenance of confidentiality and security within Cherusken. This office shall oversee all elections within Cherusken, and shall receive the votes and tally them. Elections for seats in the Assembly shall take place during the last two full weeks of the month of April on a yearly basis, for all seats in the Assembly. Those wishing to register as candidates shall have the month of March to register with the Office of Elections. Registration shall consist of filling out a form or notifying the office by e-mail whichever method is preferred shall be determined by the Office of Elections. In the case of off-line citizens, a printed ballot shall be sent, which must then be returned to the Office of Elections. The Office of Elections must tally all votes recieved within one week of the close of the voting period. After the votes have been tallied, the Office of Elections shall announce the results, and the new Councilors shall take their positions within the Assembly on the next day. For the Assembly elections of 1999, candidates shall have up to seven full days to register, after the office of elections opens the candidacy period. This is an exception to the normal rule that the month of March is said period, and is only valid in 1999. Furthermore, due to these same time constraints, elections will begin one week after the deadline for candidate registration, and last one week thereafter.
