Guinea-Bissau: Opposition party believes it will be difficult to hold election by next March
Bissau, Nov. 9 (Lusa) - The floor leader of the Resistance Movement of Guinea-Bissau/Bafata Movement (RGB/MB), Heldez Vaz, said in Bissau last week it might be ''very difficult, if not even impossible,'' to hold a general election in the country by the end of March next year.
Under the peace accord of Abuja, which was recently signed by President ''Nino'' Vieira and rebel leader Brig. Ansumane Mane in the Nigerian capital, a general election is scheduled to be held before the end of March next year.
Vaz said he believed that counting from December at least six months were needed to prepare the polls, including a new voter registration process, because of which he thought that June next year was the most suitable date for a general election in his country.-Lusa
