Guine-Bissau: EU Aid Commissioner Said to Plan Visit in Early January
Rome, Dec. 7 (Lusa) - The European Union's commissioner for humanitarian aid, Emma Bonino, will visit Guinea-Bissau in early January, the Catholic missionary news agency Misna reported Saturday.
It said dates of the visit were still uncertain but that Bonino would travel to Guinea-Bissau and Serra Leoa, likely between Jan. 4-7.

Guinea-Bissau: Portugal Welcomes Appointment of New Prime Minister
Lisbon, Dec. 7 (Lusa) - Portuguese Foreign Minister Jaime Gama has welcomed the designation of Francisco Fadul as prime minister of Guinea-Bissau's "national unity" government.
In a message sent Friday, Gama expressed Lisbon's commitment "to actively colaborate with all those who work for the reconstruction of an independent, prosperous, free and truly democratic Guinea-Bissau."
Gama wished Fadul "total success" in his new post.

Guinea-Bissau/Macau: Prime-Minister-designate accused President of assassinations and other crimes
Lisbon, Dec 7 (Lusa) - Guinea-Bissau's prime minister-designate, Francisco Fadul, has accused his country's president of being responsible for "assassinations, beatings, slander, defamation and debasement of (political) leaders."
Fadul, who was recently appointed prime minister by President "Nino" Vieira, claimed that the president was "one of the richest men in the world," maintaining Vieira's wealth was about equal to Guinea-Bissau's foreign debt.
Fadul, 44, who is a former staff of the president, joined Guinea-Bissau's insurgent "Military Junta" after its rebellion against Vieira's rule on June 7. Lusa/End
