Guinea-Bissau: Archrivals Vieira, Mane to Meet in Togo Friday

Bissau, Dec. 10 (Lusa) - President Nino Vieira of Guinea-Bissau and rebel military leader Brig. Ansumane Mane will hold face-to-face talks on implementing the country's peace accord Friday in Togo, official sources told Lusa Thursday.

They said the talks would be hosted by Togolese President Gnassibe Eyadema, the current head of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), and would include Bissau's Prime Minister-designate Francisco Fadul.

The meeting, the first between the two archrivals since the signing of the peace accord Nov. 2, would center on ironing out problems in the creation of a "national unity" cabinet and in the deployment of an ECOWAS peacekeeping force, the sources said.
