Guinea-Bissau: State Radio Announces Composition of National Unity Government

Bissau, Jan. 12 (Lusa) - The composition of the new government of Guinea-Bissau, headed by Prime Minister-designate Francisco Fadul, was announced today by the official state radio.

The 15-member cabinet of the transitional "national unity" government is divided between appointees loyal to President Nino Vieira and to the rebel Military Junta.

Foreign Minister-designate Ilia Lima Barber is a Vieira appointee, as is Carlos Gomes, named to oversee the Ministry of Justice and Labor.

The Minister of Economy and Finances, Abubacar Dahaba, was named by the Junta, as was Caetano Intchama, Minister-designate of Defense and War Veterans.

Junta leader Brigadier Ansumane Mane led a five month military mutiny against Vieira in 1998 that ended with the signing of the Abuja accords on Nov. 2. Lusa
