Guinea-Bissau: Prime Minister Reports to President Vieira on Senegalese Troops Incident

Bissau, Feb. 24 (Lusa) - Guinea-Bissau Prime Minister Francisco Fadul was expected to meet Wednesday with President Nino Vieira to present a detailed report on an incident in which Senegalese troops kept two ministers from visiting government installations.

A government source told Lusa Fadul was also expected to meet with his predecessor, Carlos Correia, to receive government portfolios.

Fadul, who took office at the head of a transitional cabinet last Saturday, has yet to move into his downtown Bissau offices, maintaining his headquarters at a bunker near the city's airport, an area under control of the rebel Military Junta.

The incident with Senegalese troops Monday has left members of the "national unity" government uneasy, the source said.

Vieira brought in Senegalese soldiers in June to face a generalized rebellion among the Guinea-Bissau armed forces. Under the Nov. 2 peace accord the remaining Senegaleese contingent, estimated at about 2,000, is to withdraw by Feb. 28. -Lusa-
