Pien
Wen-chin (fl. early 15th century) was a native of Sha-hsien, Fukien. His
familiar name was Ching-chao. During the Yung-lo period (1403-1424) he was
summoned to the capital where he served as a Painter-in-Attendance in the
Wu-ying-tien. He continued to serve as a court painter during the Hsuan-te
period (1426-1435), and, in fact, is considered to be the founder of the
Court School of flower and bird paintings. His fame rivalled that of Lu
Chi.
