TAILLEFER

(1) William Taillefer, Count of Angouleme, died 1178. Married Marguerite de Turrenne and had son Aymer. (2) Aymer Taillefer, Count of Angouleme, died 1218. Son of William and Marguerite. Married Alice de Courtenay and had daughter Isabella. (3) Isabella of Angouleme, born 1188 in Angouleme, France. Died May 31st, 1246. She was one of the most breath-taking beauties of her day, even in later life, with blonde hair and blue eyes. In 1246, Isabella was accused of trying to poison Louis IX, King of France; she fled to Fontevraud Abbey, where she died. Isabella married twice. She was first betrothed to Hugh IX de Lusignan, but instead married John I Plantagenet. After John's death, she moved back to France and eventually married Hugh IX's son, Hugh X de Lusignan.
