(1) Baldwin de Hamaland, died 962. Married an unknown woman and had son Ralph. I have seen several versions of Baldwin's ancestry, but they tend to conflict mightily. Until I work them out, I'm only listing this far back. (2) Ralph de Alost, Count of Alost, born about 940? Son of Baldwin and an unknown woman. Married Gisele de Luxembourg and had son Gilbert. (3) Gilbert de Lent de Lindsay, Earl of Lincoln, son of Ralph and Gisele. Married Alice de Montfort and had son Hugh. (4) Hugh IV de Montfort, son of Gilbert and Alice. Married Agnes de Beaumont and had son Thurstan. Hugh took his mother's maiden name, and so his descendants shall henceforth be referred to as Montforts. (5) Thurstan de Montfort, son of Hugh and Adeline. Married Juliana Murdac and had daughter Gisele. (6) Gisele de Montfort, daughter of Thurstan and Juliana. Married Giroie de Eschauffen.
