Claudia Grant is Lisa's best friend and is Communications Officer aboard the SDF-1. Claudia proves herself to be a headstrong yet calm and comptent officer, always optimistic and able to concentrate on her duties even at the worst of times.
Claudia is Roy Fokker's fiancee, and first met him back during the Global War after joining the military. At first, as she later tells Lisa, she found him conceited and wanted nothing to do with him. When she finally did agree to go on a date with him it was a total disaster and until he was transfered overseas Roy continued to try and aplogise to her through gifts which sh never opened.
Despite all this Claudia found herself in love with Roy, but not game enough to admit it straight out. Later on after the SDF-1 crashed on Earth and she and Roy are stationed together she tries to get him to admit his feelings for her. When this fails she decides to just give up on it, however soon enough Roy does admit his feelings for her and the relationship grows from there.
Unfortunately soon after the SDF-1 returns to Earth Miriya attacks, and in the fierce battle Roy is wounded. He dies later that night in Claudia's apartment, leaving her with a broken heart. Despite all this she manages to keep her optmism during battle and continue to be a friend to both Lisa and Rick. Although later on she tells Lisa that after Roy's death she often drinks to escape reality.
Claudia believes in getting straight to the point, after wasting all that time with Roy she finds Lisa's inabilty to tell Rick how she feels familar. It is Claudia who encourages Lisa to tell Rick that she loves him, although it takes about two years before Lisa can finally do so.
Claudia goes along with Lisa, Exedore and Rick's Skull Squadron to Breetai's crusier to take part in the operation to get back the Factory Satillite. It is not long after this that she tells Lisa the story of her and Roy's early relationship to finally get the point across to her about how she's only cheating herself by not telling Rick how she feels.
