Khyron
They call him the "Backstabber' and for a good reason, Commander Khyron is arrogant, cruel and the definiton of a true Zentreadi, he has never lost a battle, but as he's willing to kill his own men, Khyron does whatever he wants!
We first meet Khyron after a desperate Breetai decides, in the case of capturing the SDF-1 desperate times call for desperate measures.
And calling up Commander Khyron on the 7th Mechanised Divison of the Botoru Battlion was a real act of desperation. Khyron wastes no time in showing his unpredictable streak crashing into five of Breetai's cruisers as his battlion emerges from hyperspace.
Just the same though Khyron still has some very good attack plans, unlike most Zentraedi Commanders Khyron directs his troops from his own officer's pod been sure that he can get a bite of the action.
His first attack on Mars Base Sara should have gone off without a hitch, first he had the computers on the base activiated as the SDF-1 passed, predictably it went down to investigate. A few yards from the base though, Khyron had planted gravity mines, which he actived when the SDF-1 was in range.
If not for one over-enthusiastic soilder, who went into action to fast the SDF-1 would have been a sitting duck. Khyron infruiated that the soilder had disobeyed his orders had shot him down, this alerted the SDF-1 radar and a cats-eye recon revealed hundreds of pods, Khryron's Battlion, waiting for them. So though the SDF-1 was trapped the defense force was able to put up a good fight. Captain Gloval had enough time to devise a plan that meant blowing up Mars Base Sara's core reactor, the resulting explosion would knock out the gravity mines. The plan was a success the SDF-1 lifting off as Khyron and his Battlion were buffeted by hurricane-like winds. This INFURIATED Khyron, who refused to accept that he could be beaten by mere MICRONIAN! He vows he will have his revenge by distroying the SDF-1! This is the begin of the factions in the Zentraedi Command.
Khyron's second attack was completely unauthorised and very nearly successful. Spilting his Battlion in half he blocked the SDF-1's radar, then had half his group engage the majority of Veritech corps at a far distance from the ship. Then the second group, which included Khyron came up on the SDF-1 from behind. The battle pods clearly over wealmed the meager defense and Khyron soon found himself about to go head to head with Rick Hunter. That battle never happened because at that moment Breetai called back Khyron's Battlion by the naviagation override, he had failed again.
Khyron's third attack almost had him executed but lucky for him it ended up working in the the Zentraedi's favour. As the armada was firing warning shots across the SDF-1's bow, he planned to accidently misfire, hitting the SDF-1. He did, hitting the control tower, though the barrier discs prevented it from been distroyed, the long range radar was knocked out. This set the scene for the recon mission, that resulted in the capture of three micronians that were taken to Dolza.
Dolza unhappy with Breetai, demoted him from the leading of the SDF-1 capture mission. He then reassigned the tasks to one of his most loyal Commanders. Azonia, Commander of the Female Zentraedi. This did not sit well with Khyron, now not only did he have to take orders, he had to take them from a mere FEMALE! A power struggle began between the two, the factionism among the Zentraedi intensified.
Khyron began to disobey orders balantly, forcing the loyal Azonia to help the Micronians. Once such case is when Khyron tries to distroy the SDF-1 as it heads to Earth, Azonia is forced to let the Micronians break through to hold off Khyron.
It's not too long then before Khyron launches his first attack on the SDF-1 as it rests in the Pacific Ocean. Azonia sends the Quadrono's in after him, but they prove little help. Khyron almost succeeds in distroy this SDF-1 by ramming the front section of his ship (which can be detatched) into it. The SDF-1 is saved by the famous Daedlus Move.
It is Khyron who goads Miriya into attacking the SDF-1, a battle which leaves Roy Fokker dead and sets off a strange turn of events. A couple of months later Khyron ruins the attempt to get the SDF-1's Macross refugees to safety. Whilst over the Ontario Quadrant Khyron attacks. At first the new omnidirectional barrier the SDF-1 has looks as if it will keep it safe. But Khyron continues to fire at it unit it overloads, exploding killing Ben Dixon, all the citizens of Toronto and all of Khyron's crusiers except his.
After this Khyron takes the battle tape and spacefolds to Dolza's command centre, to show him the lengths the Micornians will go to to prevent capture and to ask for more ships. Displeased with Azonia. Dolza puts Breetai back in charge, so he Khyron and an armanda of a million ship spacefold to the moon's orbit, reay for attack.
Soon Dolza decides that merely capturing the Protocultur within the SDF-1 will be good enough and the SDF-1 can just be distroyed. Khyron is more then happy to carry out this plan,and when he gets inside the SDF-1 he is only to happy to distroy everything in sight. The plan goes awry when his best men start to defect in prusiuit of Minmei, soon Khyron is killing more Zentraedi then the Micronians are.
Later on Breetai begins to negoate peace with the Micronian which is completely agains Dolza ordes Khyron viciously argue against it but is ignored. Whn Azonia informs Breetai that she has told Commander Dolza what he's doing and that the Imperial Fleet is on it's way he tells her and Khyron they will also be targeted. Azonia vows to fight by Breetais side, Khyron however quickly removes himself from the line of fire.
However, during Minmei's song Khyron gives the order to return to the battle though whether to fight with or against Dolza is never dound out. Khyron and Azonia both go missing into to the cold North of Canada at the end of the battle. It is believed since only Khyron's cruiser crashed the Khyron rescued Azonia during the battle, indeed when Khyron resurfaces he and Azonia have some sort of relationship.
At first Khyron has Grel try to get the Protoculture resizing chamber from New Detroit City at his failure Khyron goes and gets it himself, and offers to resize Zentraedi should they join him. He then capture Minmei and Kyle afor ransom, the price of their return is the SDF-1. To celebrate he throws a rather wild Zentraedi party with lots of drinking, and partly because of Kyle's goading of Khyron been a coward, and party because he wants to, Khyron kisses Azonia. Azonia is very respondant to the kiss, but they are interupted by Grel who tells them they're under attack. Khyron is more concerned about been attacked obviously, but he insists Azonia comes with him. And even gives her his officer's pod, the during the battle when she is shot at, he races through gunfire to see if she's all right. On finding that the pods Protoculture weapons are drained he calls off the attack.
He retreats with his battered cruiser to the Amazon where he repairs his ship, then decides to launch a Christmas attak on Macross, to capture protoculture and lower Micronian morale.
He didn't succeed in the later, but did the sooner, so with his ship fueled with Protoculture he decided to head back to Tirol to the Robotech Elders, but first he decided to attack the SDF-1 one last time with Azonia and Grel by his side.
