In a rather surprising revealation it is revealed to us, shortly after Rick, Lisa, Max and Ben are captured that it is the FEMALE Zentraedi who are the elite fighting force of the Zentraedi.
And Miriya is the best of them all.
Miriya dazzles the Micronian defense as she delievers the Micronised Zentraedi spies under Commander Azonia's order. In her amazing Queadluun-Rau or Female Power Armor (the most sophisticated of all Zentraedi Protoculture mecha) she rips through the Veritech and Destroid Defense without a scratch. She truly seems ubeatable.
Miriya knows this and is very arrogant about it, certain that she can handle any enemy with ease. During Khyron's unathorised attack on the SDF-1 while it's on Earth, Miriya and her Quadrono's are sent down to stop the fighting. Miriya however decides to have some fun and causes a lot of trouble for Rick Hunter. Who, while pursuing her, ends up in the direct line of fire of the Daedlus missles, which are to distroy the front of Khyron's cruiser.
Miriya goads Khyron about his defeat, making fun of the fact he can't beat the Micronians. Nothing could anger Khyron more than this, and he bites back with his own goading. There is an ace aboard the SDF-1, a super pilot, one so good that not even First Officer Miriya Parina can beat him!
Curious and incensed Miriya launches her OWN unathorised attack on the SDF-1, but her objectives are different. Miriya has no intrest in the ship, what she wants is someone INSIDE the ship, the super ace to come out and face her. She sets her Quadrono's loose and observes from a far looking for the unbeatable pilot.
This pilot is Max Sterling, not even the super fast missles can hit him, Quadrono's fall from the sky as he shoots. This is Miriya's enemy, and she wastes no time in attacking.
But Max Sterling is better then she could ever imagine, in a breath taking raging dogfight she and Max duel, neither one gaining the upperhand for long. That is until in a daring move Miriya enters the SDF-1 itself infiltrating Macross City, crashing through buildings, and almost into the hospital where the injured Rick is. But Max is right there, his shots knock her down and soon they are at point-blank range. Miriya hesitates. She can shoot but the explosion would kill her too, what wold be the point then?
Suddenly an escape room in the form of an air lock opens, agonising over every move Miriya flies away retreating from her first ever fight.
Miriya doesn't take it well, at first she is sickened by her loss, but she vows revenge, and will do anything to get it, even micronising herself and becoming a spy.
In the aftermath of her battle Roy Fokker is killed, but as luck would have it someone else is on their way.
With permission from Azonia, which wasn't given to freely Miriya is planted on the ship. From their he begins her search. Much smarter then the male Zentraedi it doesn't take too long for her to mix into Micronian life. She even gets into 'Small White Dragon' which she believes is a battle record, which in turn has her believing Lynn KYLE is the pilot who shot her down!
Miriya is still noticed though, with her confident walk, strange clothes and green hair. She is noticed by none other than Max Sterling himself.
Miriya soon becomes convinced that an arcade is actually a training centre, this is mostly due to a game there Veritechs! which is a simulation game of a Veritech.
Miriya plays it all the time, and amounts a huge amount money, and is soon known for her great skill.
She soon realise Kyle is not the one she is after, after she realises his partner Lynn Minmei is the one who gets the attention. During the Zentraedi infiltration of the SDF-1 Miriya sees Max fighting once again, but unfortunately can't find out who it is.
She remains at the training centre in hope of the ace coming their one day. That he does, in an effort to cheer up Rick, Max brings him to the arcade and they play some games. Max's wins a whole tray of money, and as he goes to cash it in, he sees Miriya, the girl of his dreams. Miriya is surprise by this fresh faced blue haired glasses wearing Micronian challenging her, believing they're 'equally matched'.
Still when he bets his whole tray of coins, she decides it might be good for a try. All to soon though Miriya realises she's got a skilled man on her hands, he beats her easily in Level B. They then move onto Level A.
In a thrilling recount of thier first batttle Miriya and Max's computer controlled battloids attack each other. Each responding with the excat same moves, the amazing game has spectators slack jawed, but in less the five mintues Max comes out on top, distroying her Battloid. Miriya can't stand it! She will not be humilated! She hurries to leave, but Max grabs her hand and gets her to agree to a date. She then has a prefect plan for revenge.
That night as Max waits in the park, Miriya arrives with two hunting knives. Grabbing one she bares down at Max throwing the knife aiming for his head. As quick as flash Max ducks, and demands to know if she's crazy! She's not, she is Miriya Parina of the Zentraedi Air Force. He's a fool, and must fight for his life she tells as she draws her second knife. Max demands to know why she wants to kill him, she says for revenge for making her look like a fool. The two duel once more but Max is so quick she can not get him. He eventually gets the other knife and the two begin to fence, quickly almost too quickly he knocks her knife from her hand. Max has won once more.
This is the last straw, Miriya is downtrodden she falls to her knees demanding he end her life.
Max does something totally different something she can barely comprehend, he drops the knife, tells her he could never kill such a beautiful girl and kisses her. He then does something utterlly amazing he purposes to her, and she accepts even though she dosen't know what love really is.
Miriya hardly has any trouble been accepted, Rick is certainly taken by her, all his arguements fly out the window when he sees how beautiful she is ( a real man of the 21st Centuary).
A huge Wedding Celeration is planned, with Battloids shooting rainbows along with the Promothesus. Max flies Miriya around the ship in his blue Veritech, and land in one of the landing bays, the Battliods either side holding up their rainbow shooting gatlings in honour. The two are married, and have a huge reception with a massive cake, a scaled version of th SDF-1 in attack mode! Captain Gloval makes a very stirring speech that is boardcasted not only to the citizens of Macross, but the Zentraedi too.
During Minmei's singing, she is there for the celebration the Zentraedi attack. Despite a special furlough been granted Max and Miriya go into battle as well, this is a great thing, because Miriya reveals a secret weak spot of the battle pod. By shooting it between the legs it is disabled, but the pilot is unhurt. Soon the Zentraedi retreat, and Miriya and Max settle into life as normal.
Miriya joins the RDF and recieves her own special red Veritech, she is presnt at the meeting with Minister Exedore just beofre the last battle with the Imperial Fleet. Max and Miriya fight together during the battle, the two best pilots in the unvers are unstoppable and work together as a pair. Miriya vowed to stay by Max's side at he Wedding and takes this vow very seriously.
Somewhere along in the two years of Reconstruction Miriya becomes pregnant, a real miracle consider she is a clone, and has a daugher with Max. They call her Dana, and she plays of piviotal role during the capture of the Zentraedi Factory. Max and Miriya break into the factory and Miriya reveals herself to the Zentraedi. She introduces Max to them, and then holds baby Dana up high. The sight of a baby (something they've never seen before) the Zentreadi panic and the satillite is won.
Max and Miriya continue to fight back on Earth against Khyron and Azonia's skemes until Khyron's last attack.
