Roy Fokker is the leader of the famous Skull Squadron, and CAG to all other Squadrons.
Roy Fokker is Rick Hunter's unoffical 'Big Brother' who once flew in Rick's father's Flying Circus before joining the military. It is while he is in the military and training that Roy first meets Claudia Grant. The relationship, such as it is, is a rocky one, due to the fact Roy usually likes to have more that one girl on a date.
Soon after the SDF-1 crashes ending the Global War Roy is assigned to Macross Island, and is choosen to be the first test pilot to try out the new Veritech Fighter plane that the Robotech sciencitists were developing. It is here on Macross Island he meets Claudia again, this time around the relationship is more of a success. By the time of the SDF-1's launching Roy and Claudia are a well established couple.
During the first Zentraedi attack Roy talks Rick through the controls of the Veritech and helps him rescue Minmei, before having to rescue the both of them when Rick's Veritech is unable to fly.
During the SDF-1's return to Earth Roy is considered the best Veritech pilot next to Max Sterling, who he assigns to Rick Hunter when Rick is promoted after the battle on Mars.
When Rick Hunter is injured during one of Khryon's raids when the SDF-1 gets back to Earth Roy does everything in his power to help cheer a disparing Rick up. He even manages to get Minmei who is busy working on her movie to take a break from the set and visit Rick in the hospital.
Upon the SDF-1's return home Roy looks forward to spending some time with Claudia, this is before Miriya enters the scene.
Miriya and her attack force of Queadluun-Rau's (Female Power Armor) attack the the SDF-1. The Power Armor is by far a superior mecha and during this attack many human lives are lost. Roy's is among these after he is wounded fatally. The seriousness of this wound is not realised until it is too late and he collaspes in Claudia's living room. Despite best efforts he dies leaving behind a broken hearted Claudia and a shocked Rick.
Roy however still remains a great hero of the Robotech War despite his death.
